Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya

Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya

A very famous and popular shloka from Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta

Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya Glanir Bhavati Bharat|
Abhyuthanam Adharmasya Tadatmanam Srijamyaham
Paritranaya Sadhunam, Vinashaya ch Duskritam,
Dharam Sansthapanarthaya, Sambhavami Yuge Yuge

Meaning: Whenever Dharma is at the lowest and Adharma is on peak, I shall come on this earth to protect righteous, to destroy the wrongdoers and  to establish Dharma again and again.

This is the literal meaning of this verse today I am looking at this verse from a different angle.

In the 12th chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat, Bhagwan Ved Vyasji has mentioned that our body in itself is a complete world. In fact it is a complete milky way galaxy. Whatever one sees on this planet and beyond horizon in the milky way galaxy, can be seen within the body.

The total population of the world is just over 6 billion. Our body is made of not just million or billion cells but trillions and trillions of cells. Each cell is an individual live cell. How all these cells lives within one body so harmoniously is beyond anyone's imagination.

From birth to childhood and from childhood to adult and to old age, these cells continue to perform their duty uninterruptedly. When these cells function perfectly then one is in a healthy condition. When some of these cells stop functioning then one gets in to problem like cough, cold, fever etc. After medication for few days these sick cells get back to their normal life and everything return back to normal. However as the body goes through various changes in life from birth to old age, body cells start slowing down in their function to a level that even the medicine cannot help them to do their normal function.

This is known as Adharma (wrong doing) in the body takes over Dharma (righteous) proper functioning of the body.

Soul being pure and part of that Supreme Being cries for help. When Lord sees that His child (soul) can no longer resides in the body taken over by Adharma, He sends his force (Yama, death servant) to remove the soul from the body of Adharma. The body is then either buried or cremated.

Adhram is now destroyed, and Dharma is bestowed as soul get fresh new body.

On the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, let us worship Krishna and praise Him for his assurance that He will always returns to earth whenever Adharma takes over Dharma.

Happy Janmashtami
