NATIONAL HINDI ORATORY CONTEST 2015
The University of the South Pacific School of Language, Arts
and Media together with the Fiji Hindu Society organized Hindi Oratory contest
to celebrate Hindi Diwas (day) at Australia Pacific Performance Space at the University
of the South Pacific on Wednesday 30, September.
The coordinator of Hindi Diwas and the President of Hindu
Society Dr. Indu Chandra welcomed members and gave brief introduction of the
Chief Guest, His Excellency the High Commissioner of India Mr. A. Gitesh Sarma,
who spoke at length the importance of learning Hindi and encouraged students
and teachers to promote Hindi in schools.
There were also bhajan recitals and one dance item to allow
judges to identify the winners.
Oratory contest was grouped in two categories for Primary
Schools and Secondary Schools. Ten students from both groups were shortlisted
from schools around Fiji to participate in this contest. Students who
participated were as follows.

Hindi Hamari Bhasha – hamari Asmita
ki Pehchan. (Hindi our language – our identity)
Secondary:
Fiji me Bhartiya Sanskriti ki
Suraksha me Girmitiyon ki Den (The contribution of Girmitias [indenture laborers]
in preserving Indian Culture in Fiji.
Jeevan me Dharm Grantho ka mahatva.
(Importance of religious scriptures in life).
