BIRTHDAY OF LORD KRISHNA
Lord Krishna was born at midnight on 8th day of
Krishna Paksh of Shravan month according to Shukla system of Hindu calendar.
He was born in prison to Devaki and Vasudev, sister and brother-in-law
of king Kans.
Kans was so cruel that he captivated his own father and became
self imposed King. When Kans came to know about the predication that the 8th
child born to Devaki and Vasudev will be instrumental for his death, he decided
to kill all new born child of Devaki and Vasudev.
The first child he was about
to kill, he thought, well this is the first one, I have threat from eighth one.
OK, I shall let live seven children of my sister. Just then Sage Narada came to
him and showed him a wheel with 8 spokes and said, “O King Kans, tell me which
one is the first spoke and which one is the eighth?” He was confused and took
no chance and started killing all sons of Devaki and Vasudev.
Finally at midnight tonight Lord Krishna appeared.
Krishna
was transferred from prison to Gokul at Nandbaba residence, where Yashoda (wife
of Nandbaba) gave birth to a baby. Vasudev exchanged his son for this baby and
took her back to prison cell.
When Kans came to know that this time his sister gave birth
to a baby, he was again confused whether to kill a girl or not. But he did not
take any chance and as soon as he tried to kill this newborn baby, she slips
out of his hand and transform herself in to Maya (illusion) and said that his
death has already arrived on earth.
Story of Krishna is very fascinating. Eventually
Krishna kills King Kans, releases father of Kans, (Ugrasen) from prison and
restore peace and Dharma in his kingdom.
Krishan’s life was full of turmoil and fight from the day he
appeared on this world and yet He was always smiling. We never see any photo
where Krishna is crying.
He narrated Shreemad Bhagwad Geeta to His best friend Arjuna and
the very first chapter is “Arjun Vishad Yog”. By this chapter He gave message
to the world that everyone encounter problem in some stage of life and one
should not get dishearten with problem.
The last chapter of Shreemad Bhagwad
Geeta is “Moksha Sanyas Yog”. By this chapter He gave message to the world that
one should continue one’s search to achieve salvation and surely one will be
blessed by the Lord.
King Kans ascend on the thorn of his father by force is not
merely a mythological or historical story that took place some 5000+ years ago.
it is happening even today in real life in the world.
From a family to small
business, we often hear of one of the son taking over the house and business at
his own will and other are left with nothing. The family ends up in legal
battle.
We often see, a nation is taken by ransom by some
unauthorized person. We witness the episodes of Krishna’s story in our day to
day life.
However Krishna’s message is simple and clear. Keep smiling and keep
doing right things. Do not expect any returns or results for your work and you
shall be happiest person on this earth. And if every human being continue to
play their role in righteous way, we can certainly bring heavenly era on this
earth.
HAPPY JANMASHTAMI AND
A VERY VERY BLESSED BIRTHDAY OF LORD
KRISHNA.
