REINCARNATION (Part 5)

Nrusimh Avataar:

This mythological story is about Prahlad, a son of Hiranyaksh, who was true devotee of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyaksh tried to convince Prahlad to forget Vishnu and instead praise him as God. Prahlad was adamant in his belief. Hiranyaksh did everything he could and utimately Lord Vishnu appeared from a pillar in the form of Nrusimh incarnation and killed Hiranyaksh. He was very angry and Prahlad offered many prayers to please the Lord.

This mythological story is inter-related with other stories and one need not go into its detail. From here onward we shall look at the practical side of these incarnation.

Nrusimh (half lion, half man). A baby scrolls like an animal but is not an animal. A baby is a human being. Thus a child in its early stage is like Nrusimh (half animal, half human). In this phase of life a baby sometimes become very wild and would not calm down just as Nrusimh incarnation. A mother has to sing lot of nursery rhyme to pacify the baby just as Prahlad did many prayers to Nrusimh incarnation.

The next incarnation of Vishnu is Vaaman Avataar. Read about this avataar in next post
